Sensor+Test 2011: VTI’s High Performance Gyros at a Glance
With over 20 years of MEMS experience, VTI Technologies is today one of the leading global developers and suppliers of MEMS gyros. The company’s proprietary 3D MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical System) technology enables the production of the most stabile high performance industrial gyroscope components available on the market, as well as the lowest power consumption and smallest size for battery operated environments. At Sensor+Test 2011 in Nuremberg, Germany, VTI will present its range of angular rate sensors for industrial, transportation and consumer electronics applications.
SCR1100 – the market's best bias stability for MEMS gyroscope components
VTI’s SCR1100 gyroscope product family offers near tactical grade bias stability, vibration robustness and excellent noise performance. These sensors are ideally suited for industrial applications where high performance and environmental robustness is required. Typical applications include Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), platform control and stabilization, motion analysis control, and guidance and navigation systems.
SCC1300 – a combined sensor offering high accuracy in a robust package
The core of the SCC1300 combined sensor is the sensor element based on VTI’s 3D MEMS technology that, together with a state-of-the-art ASIC, results in a very stable, low noise and accurate gyro. The SCC1300 combines a SCR1100 gyro with a high accuracy 3-axis accelerometer in the same package and offers interesting opportunities in various applications. According to a study carried out by the Department of Computer Systems at Tampere University of Technology, Finland, VTI’s SCC1300 combined angular rate sensors are so accurate that they can detect and measure the Earth’s rate of rotation.
“There is a growing number of emerging applications for this high level of gyro accuracy, such as pedestrian navigation, machine control applications and gyrocompasses. This study confirms that VTI’s SCC1300 gyro perfectly meets the requirements of these demanding applications,” says Mr. Ville Nurmiainen, VTI Product Manager specialized in gyros.
