Automatic Stop-Start
Automatic Stop-Start systems (or start-stop, depending on OEM) are systems which reduce the fuel consumption by stopping the internal combustion engine while the vehicle is at stand still instead of idling the engine. The system must of course understand when the vehicle is stopped, but also inertial sensing is used to hold the vehicle in place with brakes while starting the engine. The application requirements are similar to Electronic Parking Brake and in most cases the measurement functionality is integrated into the ESC system.
